Embracing authenticity.

Are you caught in a constant tug-of-war between embracing your authentic self and holding back from fully showing up in your business because of the fear of how others might perceive you?

In a world saturated with buzzwords and jargon, there's one term that seems to prevail: authenticity. It's a concept we strive to embody, yet it can sometimes feel elusive and vague.  It asks us to navigate the tension between being true to ourselves and the fear of how others may perceive and judge us, making it a constant pursuit rather than a fixed state.

What if there was a way to be authentic, where you could show up in your business feeling truly good in your own skin, effortlessly embracing genuine visibility, and making a meaningful difference in the world?

Having spent years behind the camera helping others show up comfortably, compellingly, and naturally, I have reframed this idea by replacing the jargon with a fresh perspective.

Introducing …

Unperformance

Unperformance encapsulates the essence of shedding the masks, embracing vulnerability, and stepping into genuine visibility.

So how can you identify when you are masking your true best self, what are the impacts, and what is possible when you embrace unperformance instead?

  • Invisibility: Do you repeatedly play over in your mind all the things you imagine you should be doing to show up and share what you care about, but prioritise other things and keep putting it off until sometime when you imagine you’ll be clearer and feel more confident?

This is a sign. These patterns impede your recognition, hinder connection-building, undermine confidence, limit your impact and influence, and take an emotional toll.

Understanding what it is a sign of though, isn’t as simple as putting it down to one thing. Maybe you have an idea about what’s holding you back, or maybe you haven’t fully tested it yet to see if it is the deeper reason you’re struggling to show up.

The mind plays tricks, and tells us all sorts of reasons that we’re not ready for it. But at a deeper level there’s usually something much more enlightening to be unlocked in order to feel free of these blocks.

Maybe there are limiting beliefs that you’re not aware are running the show for you. Often these are formed as a result of messages from people living in maladapted cultures that project ideas and beliefs that you’ve taken personally. It’s natural. And it’s reversible.

It starts with self-awareness.

Recognizing the presence of your own energy of invisibility allows you to take proactive steps to unravel and amplify your visibility authentically, nurture connections, cultivate confidence, and make a more significant impact on your business journey.

By embracing unperformance, you can reclaim your visibility and create a business that truly reflects your authentic self.

  • People-Pleasing: Are you prioritising the desires and expectations of others over your own needs and values in an attempt to gain acceptance or avoid conflict?

This undermines your journey towards unperformance and genuine visibility in business. It dilutes your authenticity, erodes boundaries, fosters inauthentic connections, hinders decision-making, and stifles creativity and innovation.

Recognizing and addressing people-pleasing tendencies empowers you to reclaim your authentic self, set boundaries, cultivate genuine connections, make decisions aligned with your vision, and unleash your creative potential for true success and fulfillment.

  • Perfectionism: Are you striving for perfection and setting unrealistic standards for yourself based on external validation or societal ideals, rather than honoring your true capabilities and limitations?

Perfectionism works against you by impeding your ability to authentically show up, take risks, embrace vulnerability, and make meaningful connections. It undermines your self-acceptance, stifles creativity, and hampers your capacity to adapt and grow.

By recognizing perfectionism's presence, you can begin to cultivate self-compassion, embrace imperfection, take calculated risks, and foster a more authentic and fulfilling business journey.

  • Conformity: Are you adopting beliefs, attitudes, or behaviors solely because they are widely accepted or expected, rather than genuinely aligning with our own values and principles?

Conformity inhibits your ability to authentically express yourself, attract the right audience, nurture your unique voice, foster creativity, and seize opportunities for growth and innovation.

By recognizing the presence of conformity, you can consciously choose to break free from its constraints, embrace your authenticity, and chart a path that aligns with your true self, leading to a more fulfilling and impactful business journey.

  • Self-Suppression: Are you suppressing your true thoughts, emotions, or desires to avoid potential discomfort or confrontation?

This works against you by denying your authentic desires, diminishing self-expression, eroding personal power, fostering internal conflict, and impeding growth and connection.

Recognizing and releasing self-suppression allows you to reclaim your authentic voice, embrace your true desires, and cultivate a business journey that is aligned with your deepest values and aspirations, leading to greater fulfillment and success.
